The Speaker Jo Ann Davidson Theatre, three studio-style theaters, and a scenery and costume store are all located within the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts, which opened its doors in 1989. These areas have been controlled by CAPA since 1994. Every year, Davidson Theatre, formerly known as the Capitol Theatre, is a contemporary space with 903 seats that presents a range of CAPA shows, including comedies, musical performances, dance performances, dramas, family entertainment, and cultural events. BalletMet, the Columbus Gay Men's Chorus, the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Ohio State University Department of Dance all frequently perform there as well. It was renamed in 2016 in honor of Ohio's first female speaker of the House of Representatives, Speaker Jo Ann Davidson, and it is still a thriving center for the arts and culture of the state.
