About MARIS

MARIS is an American pop singer-songwriter originally from Missoula, Montana, and now based in Los Angeles, known professionally in all caps as MARIS. Born Maris Maddux-Ward in 1999, she blends heartland rock and glam-pop influences to create energetic, emotionally expressive music with big choruses and personal lyrics. She first gained attention by winning the 10th First Night Spotlight competition in 2014, and later competed on American Idol's 16th season. In 2023, she released the critically noted six-song EP Gravity, accompanied by a short film, and the single "Give Me a Sign" — a collaboration with Caroline Kingsbury — which reached one million streams within a month of release. She has also released "Body Is On Fire," showcasing her bold, dynamic style. MARIS has toured nationally, opening for artists such as Anna of the North, The Wrecks, and Maude Latour, and performed at festivals including Boston Calling. She continues building a dedicated fanbase with her vibrant live performances and pop-driven songwriting.
