Eric Lindell is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist born in San Mateo, California, who relocated to New Orleans in 1999 and has since become a respected figure in the city's music scene. Known for blending blues, rock, funk, soul, and country into a distinctive American roots sound, he won the John Lennon Songwriting Competition in 1999 with his song "Kelly Ann." He gained wider recognition after signing with Alligator Records, releasing Change in the Weather (2006), Low on Cash, Rich in Love (2008), and Gulf Coast Highway (2009), earning praise for his raspy vocals, confident guitar work, and bluesy storytelling. He has toured extensively across the U.S. and internationally, collaborated with members of Galactic and War, and made appearances on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Celebrated as a modern torchbearer of New Orleans-style blues and soul, Lindell continues to blend traditional roots influences with contemporary sounds.
