About Danny Elfman

Danny Elfman (born May 29, 1953) is an American composer, singer, and songwriter from Los Angeles, California. He first gained recognition as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter of Oingo Boingo, an eclectic rock band blending new wave, ska, and punk influences, active from 1979 to 1995. He then transitioned into a highly successful career as a film composer, scoring over 100 feature films. Elfman is especially known for his collaboration with director Tim Burton, contributing music to nearly 20 Burton projects including Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Batman, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, for which he also wrote the songs and sang the role of Jack Skellington. He also composed the iconic Simpsons theme. Throughout his career, Elfman has received four Academy Award nominations, a Grammy Award for Batman (1990), and three Emmy Awards. He remains one of the most influential film composers in modern cinema.
