Moulin Rouge - New York

Genre: Broadway

Moulin Rouge - New York

”Moulin Rouge! The Musical" is a dazzling 2 hour and 40 minute stage show. The production began in Boston, USA, with a NY Broadway production opening in 2019. This stage adaptation of the world of Baz Luhrmann's film of the same name, along with a magnificent and glittering stage design that also evokes the atmosphere of the authentic French Moulin Rouge, will surprise and enthuse the audience. The Al Hirschfeld Theatre is a beautiful theater with a classical atmosphere same as the theaters on Broadway in New York that have the feel of a European opera house as though that were built in the early 20th century. The production won 10 prestigious Tony Awards in 2020, including Best Musical, Best Direction, Best Choreography, Best Equipment Design, and Best Costume Design, and it remains one of the most popular ticket items today. The combination of Christian and Satine's singing is powerful and emotional, and the romantic song "Come What May," set in Lautrec's studio in Montmartre, is also impressive and memorable. In addition to the popular cast members, Boy George, the charismatic pop star who took the world by storm in the 1980s, will appear as the role of manager, Harold Zidler, for a limited run from February to May 2024. In the play, a giant windmill and elephant will appear in the venue, and, as in the movie, Satine, who plays the actress, will descend from overhead in the audience on a trapeze. The orchestra seats on the first floor, around rows 7 to 10 in the front provide a sense of realism and a view of the entire stage. There are also VIP table seats right in front of the stage. Doors open 40 minutes before the curtain, and before the curtain there is a sensual dancer performance called a pre-show, and a magic show. The mood is like being in a nightclub. The Moulin Rouge! is a mash-up musical, with a huge number of mega-hit songs scattered throughout the play. About 70 existing songs by world superstars such as Madonna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Elton John are used in the play. At the end, a song from the famous operetta "Heaven and Hell" is played, and the manager Zidler plays the role of "Everybody, can can!," the audience erupts in cheers and applause, celebratory cannons are launched, and gold, silver or heart-shaped confetti flow in the air! It is an overwhelming world of entertainment in this participatory musical. We invite you to experience firsthand a performance where you can feel the heat from one end of the stage to the other.
