Ditching ballet, Tate McRae, the dance prodigy, turned pop star in 2017 with her viral hit "One Day." Her music blends vulnerability and energy, debuting with "All the Things I Never Said" (2020). In 2022, her album I Used to Think I Could Fly topped the charts. Now, with a world tour and A-list status, she’s a pop force.
Her sophomore album, Think Later, which will debut in December 2024 and is a confident step into the mainstream.
Her debut album garnered praise, but Think Later marks a shift… Gone are the "sad girl" ballads; this album embraces a vibrant, youthful energy. Songs like Cut My Hair, acknowledge her previous persona and embrace a brighter sound reminiscent of Britney Spears.
There's criticism. Some see her shift as a calculated attempt to shed the sad girl label for mainstream success. But perhaps it's the natural evolution of a 20-year-old artist exploring friendship, partying, and young love.
It doesn't shy away from heartbreak; its core message is confidence and celebrating life's chaos. Tracks like GUTS by Olivia Rodriguez share a similar vibe: relatable, upbeat anthems with introspective moments capturing the complexity of young womanhood.
Tate McRae is taking her talents on the road in support of her second album. The tour starts in Dublin, Ireland, on the 17th of April 2024 and makes stops through cities in the U.S., U.K., Europe, and Oceania, ending on the 21st of November 2024 in Auckland, New Zealand.
This tour will cover Ireland, the UK, the German lands, the low countries, the Benelux, the Nordic countries, Central Europe, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and then across the United States, ultimately concluding in Australia and New Zealand.
