The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, also known as RodeoHouston, is the number one single largest livestock exhibition and rodeo in the world. Much like Mardi Gras in New Orleans or New Year’s Eve in New York City, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is very much the signature event of Houston, the one that the city is known for worldwide, the one that everyone marks on their calendars and waits for all year. Running 20 days from late February into March each year, RodeoHouston has been known to attract as many as 2.5 million visitors per year. While there are an incredible number of events and attractions that come with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the main event is the rodeo itself, which involves typical Wild West rodeo sports such as steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing, saddle bronc and bareback riding, and (everyone’s favorite) bull riding. Cowboy athletes face off over the 20 days in a playoff format with champions being crowned in each event at the end (winning a substantial cash prize). Large scale concerts take place later in the evening after the rodeo events.
The annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the event of the year in Houston and so tickets to the most popular concerts, shows, and competitions often sell out very quickly. What you need to do is get yourself onto TicketX as quickly as possible to find the best tickets to all the most exciting events at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. TicketX offers the cheapest tickets with the lowest commission fees, and you can buy your tickets with just one click! Aside from watching rodeo sports (or perusing livestock for purchase, as this is a working agriculture event!), there is an incredible number of things to do around town during the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The Rodeo Uncorked! RoundUp and Best Bites Competition offers participants the chance to taste test and rate various wines as well as cuisine from local restaurants, while the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest pits dozens of the best grillers against one another with obviously delicious results. On Go Texan Day, everyone in the city is encouraged to dress up like cowboys for a day (described by journalist Manny Fernandez as "the one day of the year on which people in Houston dress the way people outside Houston think people in Houston dress"). People can also head out on trail rides on horseback, camp out, or participate in the Rodeo Run or Rodeo Parade. The biggest attractions these days, however, are probably the concerts held in NRG Stadium at NRG Park after the rodeo competitions finish each day.
Are there ever! Concerts are held each evening in NRG Stadium at NRG Park after the rodeo sports are done for the day.
