Chicago Bears

Perhaps more than any other team in the NFL, the Chicago Bears are steeped in American football history. The Bears, along with the Arizona Cardinals (who were based in Chicago too long ago), are the only two founding members of the NFL to still be playing in the more than 100 years since the league was born in 1920. Since 1971, the Bears have also played their home games at Soldier Field, the oldest NFL stadium still in use today. Sadly for modern-day Bears fans, the team’s successes are also mostly confined to the distant past. Their only triumph in modern times was in 1985, where they blew out the New England Patriots 46-10 to bring Super Bowl XX back to the Windy City. In recent years, the Bears have struggled even to make the playoffs, with only two Wild Card appearances to show for their past 13 seasons. In 2023-24, they finished in 11th, well out of the postseason picture. But with a proud history and loyal fans, the Bears seem long overdue for a resurgence. Get your Chicago Bears ticket from TicketX and be there to see it!

Rival Teams

Nothing gets NFL football fans all pumped up more than watching their team square off against a massive rival. Here are two of the Chicago Bears’ most significant rivalries.

Chicago Bears vs Green Bay Packers

The incredibly long rivalry between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers dates back to 1920 when the Packers joined the NFL. There was never any shortage of fire in this rivalry; in 1924, the first ever NFL ejections occurred in a Packers-Bears game after two players punched one another! Heading into the 2024-25 season, the Packers lead the all time series at 103-95-6. The Packers also beat the Bears in their most recent postseason meeting in 2011 on their way to winning the Super Bowl. The Packers and Bears will square off twice this season: on November 17 at Soldier Field in Chicago and in the final game of the regular season at Lambeau Field in Green Bay on January 5, 2025. Let’s hope that last game is a big postseason decider!

Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lions

The Chicago Bearsrivalry with the Detroit Lions is particularly intense as it is one part of the deep multi-sport rivalry between the two cities of Detroit and Chicago (Pistons-Bulls, Red Wings-Blackhawks, Tigers-White Sox). Neither the Bears nor the Lions has been much good over the years, so their fans have mostly had to be content with trying to beat one another. The two teams split their games in 2023, but the Lions made the postseason, getting all the way to the NFC Championship, while the Bears missed the playoffs completely. There will be plenty of pride at stake when the teams meet on November 28, 2024 at Ford Field in Detroit and December 22 at Soldier Field in Chicago.

When does the NFL Preseason start for the Chicago Bears?

The Chicago Bears preseason kicks off on August 1, 2024 against the Houston Texans at Tom Benson HOF Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The Bears then head to Highmark Stadium in Buffalo on August 10 to take on the Buffalo Bills, before coming home to Soldier Field in Chicago to face the Cincinnati Bengals on August 17, then rounding out their preseason against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on August 22.

2024-25 NFL Season Predictions

Which Teams Will Go To the 2024-25 NFL Playoffs?

There will be 14 teams that qualify for the Postseason—seven from the AFC and seven from the NFC—and despite an influx of new and talented QBs drafted by teams in the 2024 NFL Draft, expect at least 11 of the same teams in the NFL Playoffs as last season.

So, who are the four that might not make it this time and who didn’t make the Playoffs last year but might in the 2024-25 season? The Buccaneers, Browns, and Steelers may find it harder this time around, with the Falcons, Bengals, and Jets possibly making the Wild Card round.

Last season, the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers met in the NFC Championship Game, and the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs collided in the AFC Championship Game, with the 49ers meeting the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

Expect those four heavyweights, along with the Packers, Eagles, Cowboys, and Rams in the NFC and the Texans and Bills in the AFC, to make it back to the NFL Playoffs next season.

Which Two Teams Will Go To Super Bowl LIX and Why?

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be seeking their third straight Super Bowl win. With genius Head Coach Andy Reid, TE Travis Kelce, and a much-improved defense, they are the best team in the AFC and have lofty expectations. The Lions had the Niners on the ropes last year and have steadily improved the last two seasons. They are eyeballing a shot at the Super Bowl and have the skill position players and chip on their shoulders.

So Jared Goff and Detroit (12/1 to win the Super Bowl, DraftKings) could meet the best player in the NFL—Mahomes—and his Chiefs (+550) in Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Trade Rumors and Draft Picks

After another dismal season in 2023-24 where the team again missed out on the postseason on a tiebreaker, the Chicago Bears are desperate to beef up their roster with free agents, new talent from the draft, and trades with other franchises for the upcoming season. The departure of starting quarterback Justin Fields seemed cause for concern until the Bears, blessed with the 1st overall pick in the 2024 draft, selected Heisman winning quarterback Caleb Williams. They will be hoping he is ready to step straight into the fray next year. For veteran depth, the Bears may also look to the trade or free agency, with rumored trade targets including Brandon Aiyuk (WR) of the San Francisco 49ers, Amari Cooper (WR) of the Cleveland Browns, and Brian Burns (LB) of the New York Giants.

Soldier Field

Soldier Field is the oldest NFL stadium still in use today, having first opened in 1924. Though not exactly a historic trip down memory lane due to some less than aesthetically pleasing renovations over the years, going to see a Chicago Bears (NFL) at Soldier Field does nonetheless have a certain mystique about it (though not much of a “winning mystique”). In recent decades, the Chicago Fire FC (MLS) have also gained a big following at the venue. Whatever happens, it will be windy (it’s the Windy City…bring a jacket!). As well as hosting regular season and playoff Chicago Bears football games and Chicago Fire FC soccer games, Soldier Field continues to be the site of NCAA college football games, concerts, and international soccer matches. It was one of the venues for the 1994 FIFA World Cup (but will not feature in the upcoming 2026 edition). Ed Sheeran’s 2023 concert set a record at Soldier Field, selling over 73,000 tickets.

How to get to Soldier Field

Local bus is your only option if you want to take public transportation to Soldier Field, but you may have to transfer several times, depending on your location (not fun in cold windy weather!). A taxi or rideshare to the stadium might be a better option. Most visitors to Soldier Field arrive in their own vehicles or a taxi. Just budget plenty of time, as traffic en route can be a problem. Large parking garage and lots surround the venue, though it is definitely best to prebook a sport in advance ($55-75). Check Soldier Field’s official website for helpful maps, driving directions, and parking information.

Soldier Field Bag Policy

The Soldier Field bag policy states that visitors are allowed to bring in clear plastic bags (maximum size: 12" x 6" x 12"), including clear backpacks, fanny packs, and cinch bags. Guests can also bring in one clear plastic freezer bag. Small clutch bags (maximum size: 4.5" x 6.5"). Diapers can be carried in a clear bag.

Soldier Field Rules

Soldier Field has an extensive list of rules meant to ensure a safe and fun day for all at the venue. Most of them are common sense, but a few of the most important rules to remember are:

  • Alcohol outside alcohol must not be brought into the venue. Guests must be able to provide valid photo ID in order to be served alcohol.

  • Binoculars and Cameras handheld binoculars are permitted inside the venue. Professional cameras and video cameras are prohibited. Cases are also not allowed.

  • Fireworks fireworks, flares, smoke bombs, sparklers, and all similar incendiary devices are banned in the stadium, parking lots, and surrounding park.

  • Smoking - the stadium is a completely non-smoking facility, inside and outside (including vapes, e-cigarettes, and other similar devices).

Visit the stadium’s A-Z guide page for a full list of rules at Soldier Field.

Hotels Near Soldier Field

A number of nice hotels can be found within walking distance (or a short cab ride) of Soldier Field, including the River Hotel, Congress Plaza Hotel, and Eurostars Magnificent Mile.

Soldier Field Seating Chart

Soldier Field might be the smallest venue in the NFL, but it is still big enough to boast a reasonable range of seating options. Premium seating is available in the form of club seats and luxury suites for those who desire a more exclusive experience. There is also plenty of general seating at affordable prices, ranging from moderately expensive seats closer to the field and cheaper seats up in the higher levels. All seats provide good views of the action. TicketX lists all tickets that come available to games or events at Soldier Field. Check out our handy seating chart to compare seating options.
