The Hu (which you pronounce as the who), is a Mongolian folk metal band that started playing together in 2016. They use traditional Mongolian instrumentation, like throat singing, and call their style hunnu rock. Their lyrics include old Mongolian war cries and poetry from the Mongolian language. They have two studio albums and several extended plays. The four members studied together at the Mongolian State Music and Dance Conservatory, where they practiced traditional Mongolian music styles. The lead singer formed the band by choosing students from the conservatory. He also acted as the producer and songwriter and wanted to try something new with heavy metal. Since heavy metal was banned from the country in the past, they used traditional instruments and a style they called hunnu rock. Their name The Hu, means human beings in Mongolian.
