It officially opened in March 2016 and is notably the largest event space in the southern part of Virginia, with the capacity to host over 6,000 guests. This venue is the primary location for the VSU Trojans Basketball and Volleyball teams' home games and is managed by Spectra by Comcast Spectacor. Beyond serving the university's athletic needs, the Multi-Purpose Center plays a significant role in fostering connections and growth within the community and the broader Petersburg and Virginia state areas. The facility spans more than 167,000 square feet, designed to support a wide range of events including sports, concerts, graduations, and other cultural gatherings. It's not just a hub for university activities but also aims to rejuvenate Ettrick, transforming it into a thriving college town and a prime destination for entertainment and cultural events in the region.
