Wembley Stadium, Wembley, England
SOLD OUT
The Carabao Cup is the current name for the English Football League Cup (EFL Cup), a knockout competition open to all 92 professional clubs in the Premier League and the English Football League. First held in 1960–61, it has had several sponsored names over the decades, including the Milk Cup, Littlewoods Cup, Rumbelows Cup, Coca-Cola Cup, Worthington Cup, Carling Cup, and Capital One Cup, and has been called the Carabao Cup since the 2017–18 season after its Thai energy drink sponsor. The tournament is played in a knockout format, with single-leg ties in all rounds except the semi-finals, which are played over two legs. The final is a single-leg match held at Wembley Stadium. While less prestigious than the FA Cup or Premier League, it offers a major trophy and qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League, through a play-off round. The Carabao Cup is known for giving smaller clubs the chance to compete against top-tier teams, producing surprising results and memorable matches.
