Oxford United is a professional football club based in Oxford, England. Founded in 1893 as Headington FC, the club merged with Headington Quarry in 1911 to become Headington United, before adopting the name Oxford United in 1960. The team is commonly known as "The U's" and plays its home matches at the Kassam Stadium. Oxford United's greatest achievement came in 1986 when the club won the League Cup, defeating Queens Park Rangers in the final. During the 1980s, Oxford United also spent several seasons in the top division of English football.
