About Delaware Blue Coats

The Delaware Blue Coats are a professional basketball team based in Wilmington, Delaware, serving as the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers. The franchise traces its origins to the Utah Flash, founded in 2007, which ceased operations in 2011. The Philadelphia 76ers acquired the dormant franchise in 2013 and relocated it to Newark, Delaware, as the Delaware 87ers, before rebranding as the Blue Coats and moving to Wilmington in 2018. The team plays its home games at Chase Fieldhouse. The Blue Coats have emerged as one of the G League's most successful recent franchises, reaching three consecutive G League Finals from 2021 to 2023 and winning their first championship in 2022–23 by defeating the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Serving as a key development pipeline for the 76ers, the team has helped numerous players earn NBA opportunities.
