About Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience

Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience is a two-time Grammy Award-winning Louisiana band led by accordionist and vocalist Terrance Simien. The group won the Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album in 2008, and again for Best Regional Roots Music Album in 2014. Known for bringing zydeco music to global audiences, the band blends traditional Creole rhythms with blues, funk, R&B, and world music. The main instruments are accordion and frottoir (zydeco rubboard), driven by African and Caribbean rhythms. Simien is an eighth-generation Creole from one of the earliest Creole families in Louisiana. Their Dockside Sessions album won the Grammy for Best Regional Roots Music Album in 2014. The band has performed nearly 10,000 concerts across more than 45 countries, also reaching hundreds of thousands of students through their educational program, Creole for Kidz and the History of Zydeco.
