The Greensboro Swarm are a professional basketball team based in Greensboro, North Carolina, serving as the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets. The franchise was announced in October 2015 and began play in the 2016–17 season, owned and operated by Hornets Sports & Entertainment. The team plays its home games at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. For most of their history the Swarm struggled to post winning records, but in 2024–25 under head coach D.J. Bakker, they achieved their first-ever winning season at 20–14 and made their first playoff appearance before losing to the Indiana Mad Ants. As a Hornets-owned affiliate, the Swarm serves as a direct development pipeline, enabling seamless player assignments and two-way contracts between Greensboro and Charlotte. The team is owned by the Hornets' parent company, now led by principal owners Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin following Michael Jordan's 2023 majority sale.
