The VCU Rams men's basketball team represents Virginia Commonwealth University in NCAA Division I competition and currently competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Rams became nationally known for their fast-paced, aggressive defensive style under former head coach Shaka Smart, a system widely referred to as “Havoc.” During the 2011 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament, VCU made a remarkable run to the Final Four as an 11 seed, starting in the First Four and knocking off several higher-seeded opponents along the way. Since that breakthrough, the Rams have remained a strong program with regular postseason appearances and multiple NCAA Tournament bids. VCU plays its home games at the Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia, where a loud and energetic fan base creates one of the toughest home-court environments in the Atlantic 10. The program continues to contend for conference titles and maintains a respected presence in college basketball.
