The Mainstage Theatre at the University at Buffalo's Center for the Arts is a key cultural hub established in 1994, located on the North Campus in Amherst. This multi-faceted arts center spans over 236,500 square feet and was developed with a $50 million investment. As the largest theater within the Center, the Mainstage Theatre can accommodate 1,750 guests and is distinguished by its professional-grade facilities. These include an adaptable wall system for optimal acoustics, a movable proscenium, a custom-built orchestra shell, and an expansive stage measuring 106 ft wide by 48 ft deep. The Center serves as a public venue for a diverse array of performances, exhibitions, and events, ranging from university productions and state/regional events to national and international touring productions and exhibits. Furthermore, it supports the academic pursuits of students in various arts disciplines such as media studies, art, theatre, and dance, thereby fulfilling a significant part of the University at Buffalo's mission to provide enriched educational and cultural opportunities.
