GENRE: pop-rock, alternative rock, pop-punk, emo

TRACKS: High Hopes, Hey Ma, Look I Made It, I Write Sins Not Tragedies, Me!, Nine in the Afternoon

When childhood friends, Ryan Ross and Spencer Smith started a band with their friend, Brent Wilson and his classmate, Brendon Urie in Las Vegas, they had no idea just how fast they were going to shoot to fame or the impact they were about to make in the 2000s rock music scene.

Panic! At the Disco, the name chosen for the band, was formed, signed to a label and released a debut album all in the span of a year.  In 2004, with their online demos, the band caught the attention of Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy. They became the first act signed to his label, Decaydence. Shortly after, they began to work on their debut studio album which was released in 2005.

A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out formally introduced the pop-rock band to the public and with their videos came theatrics reminiscent of burlesque and old Broadway performances. The debut album was divided into two sonically and featured a blend of genres, from emo to pop-punk to electronica.  I Write Sins Not Tragedies, its second single was a commercial success boosting the overall success of the project. The track peaked at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in August 2006 and spent 37 weeks on the chart.

Over time, the band’s discography grew, expanded and defied musical styles. Between 2005 and 2022, the band released seven studio albums with a three-year interval between each. In its latter years,  the albums released resulted from the solo efforts of the band’s frontman, lead singer and last-standing member, Brendon Urie.  The 2013 album, Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die! was the last project to feature another founding member, Spencer Smith. It was also the only album to include bassist, Dalton Weekes. The track, Vegas Lights off the album has been used as the goal song of the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League.

High Hopes, the band’s most popular song spent 52 weeks and peaked at number 4 in January 2019 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was released as a single on the band's sixth studio album, Pray for the Wicked. Another single on the album, Hey Look Ma, I Made It was a hit on the charts. In 2020, Brendon Urie collaborated with Taylor Swift on her song, Me!

The success of this album earned them several nominations at the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and iHeartRadio Music Awards, where they won Alternative Rock Song of the Year in 2019.  The band is also Grammy-nominated for their 2016 album, Death of A Bachelor.

For nearly two decades of its existence, there was a revolving door of band members of Panic! at the Disco. In 2006, founding member Brent Wilson was kicked out for a lack of responsibility. His departure was followed in 2009 by Ryan Ross and Jon Walker (Wilson’s replacement) leaving, citing creative and musical differences.

In 2013, Spencer Smith took a temporary leave of absence for medical reasons. Two years later, in 2015, he became the last member to leave the band. After his departure, the band became a solo project of Brendon Urie until its discontinuation in 2023. The band also included seventeen touring members who offered a range of skills, from backing vocals to playing various musical instruments like the saxophone, keyboard, cello and the trumpet among others. One of these touring members later became an official member for a short while between 2010 and 2015.

From their track record, it is safe to say that Panic! at the Disco lived to perform on stage. Ironic, considering the fact that they had never performed together as a band before their signing to a label. Starting with their initial unnamed tour, the band has gone on a total of 20 tours as headliners, opening acts and performed at numerous concerts.

Each studio album released was accompanied by its tour. The Viva Las Vengeance Tour 2023 was named after their final album. The band was discontinued by solo member, Brendon Urie after the completion of the European leg of the tour.

It is clear that Panic! at the Disco has made an immeasurable impact in the music industry, curating rock genres with pop, emo and punk. When Brendon Urie returns to the music scene as Panic! at the Disco, TicketX will be here with the cheapest tickets, giving you the smoothest ticket-buying experience.
