Sister Sledge is a vocal musical group that formed in 1971. The group, which hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is made up of sisters Kathy, Debbie, Joni, and Kim Sledge. Sister Sledge found the most success during the disco era and was known internationally. Their breakthrough album, We Are Family, was number three on the charts, and the song by the same name was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Performance. The women are daughters of a Broadway tap dancer and actress, and they were trained vocally by their grandmother.
