Slothrust is an alternative rock band that formed in 2010 in Boston, Massachusetts. The drummer, Will Gorin, and the guitarist/vocalist Leah Wellbaum collaborated when they were students together at Sarah Lawrence College. After performing in school groups, they created heavier-sounding music together. The name Slothrust cane from a project Wellbaum was working on called “Slothbox” and the term “rust,” which they used to show the passage of time. Slothrust released its debut album in 2012 and the lead single was featured on the TV series You’re the Worst. Their second album came out in 2014 and in 2016, their next album was less angry and more relatable to dreams and water. Their most recent release was an EP in 2023 for which they toured. They also promoted the 10th anniversary of their 2014 album.
