Windy City Smokeout 2024

Four days of great live music, loads of fun, and extensive barbecuing - this is what the Windy City Smokeout is all about. The festival has been on since 2013, pulling large crowds from different parts of the Windy City to enjoy Country Music, Barbecue, and Craft Beer. Since 2019, the festival has been held at the United Center, and the 2024 edition is not going to be done differently.

July 11, Thursday

Headliners: Thomas Rhett and Chase Rice

Ernest, Priscilla Block, Adam Doleac, Alana Springsteen, and MC4D will also perform on the opening day.

July 12, Friday

Headliners: Parker McCollum and Lee Brice

On the second day, Corey Kent, Red Clay Strays, Jake Worthington, and the Castellows will be mounting the United Center stage.

July 13, Saturday

Headliners: Cody Johnson and Billy Currington

On Saturday, Ian Munsick, 49 Winchester, Wyatt Flores, Lanie Gardner, and Louie The Singer will be performing.

July 11, Sunday

Headliners: Carrie Underwood

Nate Smith, Muscadine Bloodline, Ashley Cooke, Cooper Alan, RVSHVD, and Summer Dean are the other artists that will close the four-day fiesta on Sunday.

The opening times for Windy City Smokeout are as follows, so be sure to plan your day accordingly.

Thursday, July 11: The show will open by 2:00 pm with a performance by MC4D and the final performance by 8:25 by Thomas Rhett.

Friday, July 12: On Friday, the first show will start at 2:00 pm with DJ Dan P. and Parker McCollum will close the festival for the day by 8:25.

Saturday, July 13: On Saturday, the opening time is 1:00 pm with DJ Cabrera’s performance. The stage will close by 10:00 pm, but not before Cody Johnson’s show by 8:25 pm.

Sunday, July 14: The final date also kicks off at 1:00 pm with DJ One Chance, and other artists like Nate Smith and Ashley Cooke perform during the day. Carrie Underwood’s headlining performance would start by 8:00 pm to close off the four-day festival for the year.

Windy City Smokeout 2023 Review

Festival Dates: July 13 - July 16

The 2023 edition of this Chicago fun fest starred Zach Bryan, Darius Rucker, Luke Bryan, and the Zac Brown Band. Over fifteen other country artists also performed at the festival, and as always, there was a lot of barbecue at the venue.

Last year, fans were absolutely thrilled by the festival’s lineup, and they came out in large numbers because of popular country artists like Zach Bryan. However, even though the stage performance was excellent, attendees complained about how the large and unruly crowd affected the mood of the festival.

Aside from the music, attendees also applauded the work of the quality BBQ vendors on the festival grounds. Even if you didn’t like the live music, you’d have stayed for the BBQ.

The party doesn't end at the United Center: There are tons of after-show parties taking place across Chicago. Musicians, performers, and DJs tend to promote their new music at bars, music halls, and clubs across the city, so make sure to catch them in action at the following locations. One of the privately organized afterparties is a country EDM at Epiphany Center for the Arts, just a short walk from the United Center. This party would be featuring Deerock, but it is just one on a long list of events that will be happening after the festival.

Windy City Smokeout Outfits

A lot of women go with a light-wieight, short dress and boots for the festival. If you are feeling it, you can also add a cowboy hat to match the entire country vibe the festival is supposed to have. For men, simple shorts, a t-shirt, and a baseball cap can make you blend in with everyone else at the venue. Put on comfortable sneakers because you will spend a lot of time standing and walking at the festival.
