Canadian rockers Theory of a Deadman got their start thanks to their compatriots Nickelback, after the lead singer of that band, Chad Kroeger, signed them to his record label in 2001. The band was soon opening for Nickelback on tour and consequently saw their album sales soar, with several of their singles reaching Platinum status. Theory of a Deadman was immensely popular in Canada in the early 2000s, performing at halftime for the Grey Cup (Canada’s Super Bowl) in 2008 and taking home a Juno Award (Canada’s Grammy) in 2003, and their fame began to spread south of the border into the United States as they toured more extensively. Three of the band’s original members are still with Theory of a Deadman with Joey Dandeneau on drums being the newest addition, having joined in 2009 (three other drummers have come and gone).
