Buffalo Bills

LACES OUT! While the 1990s screwball comedy movie Ace Ventura was purportedly referring to the Miami Dolphins, everyone recognized it immediately as a reference to the most painful moment in Buffalo Bills history. Down 20-19 to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXV, Bills placekicker Scott Norwood lined up a last second field goal for a dramatic last second victory. But it was not to be. Apparently the laces were out, but the hold was not perfect and neither was Norwood’s kick. The ball sailed “wide right” and the Bills missed out on their first-ever Super Bowl championship. The Bills, without Norwood, would then go on to lose the next three Super Bowls in a row. Long-suffering but loyal Bills fans remain hopeful that one day their team will get it done, though the Kansas City Chiefs have stood in their way in recent years, beating the Bills in the Playoffs in 2020, 2022, and 2023. The 2023 game was lost 27-24 with (would you believe it) a last second Bills missed field goal (and yes, it did go wide right!). Get your Buffalo Bills tickets from TicketX to see if they can finally win it all (or at least learn to kick a field goal) next year!

Rival Teams

Nothing gets NFL football fans all pumped up more than watching their team square off against a massive rival. Here are two of the Buffalo Bills’ most significant rivalries.

Buffalo Bills vs New England Patriots

For many years, the Buffalo Billsbiggest rivals were always the Miami Dolphins due to the legendary battles between their two quarterbacks, Jim Kelly and Dan Marino, as the teams fought for supremacy over their division. Led by another superstar quarterback, the incomparable Tom Brady, the New England Patriots replaced the Dolphins as the Bills’ top rivals from the late 1990s into the 2000s. The Patriots were also somewhat local rivals to the Bills, given that Buffalo is in upstate New York. Bills fans were forced to watch enviously as the Patriots amassed 6 Super Bowl wins in the 2000s. Brady has since retired, but the animosity between the two teams remains. The Bills and Patriots are set up for two exciting late season clashes this season: on December 22 at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo and January 5, 2025 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Buffalo Bills vs Kansas City Chiefs

Even though the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs have always played in different divisions, the pair have long nurtured a rivalry stoked by a number of emotionally charged, close-fought postseason playoff games. The rivalry has become quite personal in recent years, with the two excellent quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, going toe to toe whenever the teams have met. With the Chiefs having ended Buffalo’s season 3 times in the last 5 years (including a heartbreaking 27-24 nailbiter in 2024), the Bills will be out for revenge in 2024-25. The Chiefs and Bills are next set to meet at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo on November 17 (and let’s be honest…probably in the Playoffs again too!).

When does the NFL Preseason start for the Buffalo Bills?

The Buffalo Bills preseason kicks off on August 10, 2024 against the Chicago Bears at Highmark Stadium in Buffalo. The Bills then head to Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on August 17 to take on the Steelers, before coming back home to Highmark to face the Carolina Panthers on August 24 to round out their preseason.

2024-25 NFL Season Predictions

Which Teams Will Go To the 2024-25 NFL Playoffs?

There will be 14 teams that qualify for the Postseason—seven from the AFC and seven from the NFC—and despite an influx of new and talented QBs drafted by teams in the 2024 NFL Draft, expect at least 11 of the same teams in the NFL Playoffs as last season.

So, who are the four that might not make it this time and who didn’t make the Playoffs last year but might in the 2024-25 season? The Buccaneers, Browns, and Steelers may find it harder this time around, with the Falcons, Bengals, and Jets possibly making the Wild Card round.

Last season, the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers met in the NFC Championship Game, and the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs collided in the AFC Championship Game, with the 49ers meeting the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

Expect those four heavyweights, along with the Packers, Eagles, Cowboys, and Rams in the NFC and the Texans and Bills in the AFC, to make it back to the NFL Playoffs next season.

Which Two Teams Will Go To Super Bowl LIX and Why?

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be seeking their third straight Super Bowl win. With genius Head Coach Andy Reid, TE Travis Kelce, and a much-improved defense, they are the best team in the AFC and have lofty expectations. The Lions had the Niners on the ropes last year and have steadily improved the last two seasons. They are eyeballing a shot at the Super Bowl and have the skill position players and chip on their shoulders.

So Jared Goff and Detroit (12/1 to win the Super Bowl, DraftKings) could meet the best player in the NFL—Mahomes—and his Chiefs (+550) in Super Bowl LIX at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Trade Rumors and Draft Picks

Despite a deep run into the postseason in 2023-24, the Buffalo Bills will be looking to find that vital missing puzzle piece for their roster with free agents, new talent from the draft, and trades with other franchises. The Bills did not have a 1st round draft pick in 2024, having traded it away previously, but selected Keon Coleman (WR) to try and address their sudden dearth of wide receivers. The Bills may also look to the trade to add depth, with trade targets including Patrick Surtain (CB) of the Denver Broncos, Tee Higgins (WR) of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Matthew Judon (LB) of the New England Patriots.

Highmark Stadium

For any true football fan who wants to experience a sliver of NFL history while it still lives, a ticket to a Buffalo Bills home game in the next three years should be high on your bucket list. Highmark Stadium has been home to the Bills since 1973, but it will close in 2026 when the team moves across the street to a new facility: New Highmark Stadium. Fans are excited for the new stadium but understandably concerned about losing the atmosphere, friendly neighborly attitude, and history of the current Highmark Stadium. As well as all regular season and playoff Bills home games, Highmark Stadium also plays host to college football matches, concerts, and even outdoor NHL hockey games. Hungry visitors will enjoy a wide selection of hearty food such as buffalo wild wings, hot chicken and waffles, and tacos on offer at Highmark Stadium, as well as hot (and boozy) drinks to warm body and soul through cold Buffalo winter nights.

How to get to Highmark Stadium

Getting to Highmark Stadium using local city buses is possible, but difficult and inconvenient. Taking a taxi, rideshare, or private shuttle to the stadium is probably a better option if you are without your own wheels. Most visitors to Highmark Stadium arrive in their own cars, though you should be prepared for heavy traffic near the venue. Arrive early! There are large parking lots all around Highmark Stadium, though construction of the new stadium has reduced this somewhat. It is highly recommended to book a parking spot in advance. Visit Highmark Stadium’s official website for maps, travel information, driving directions, and parking information.

Highmark Stadium Bag Policy

The Highmark Stadium bag policy states that visitors are allowed to bring in clear bags (maximum size: 12" x 6" x 12") and non-clear clutch bags (maximum size: 4.5" x 6.5"). You can also carry in binoculars, blankets (it gets cold!), small cameras, and seat cushions.

Highmark Stadium Rules

Highmark Stadium has an extensive list of rules meant to ensure a safe and fun day for all at the venue. Most of them are common sense, but some of the most important rules to remember are:

  • End of Alcohol Sales - all sales of alcohol finish at the end of the 3rd quarter (apart from in premium club seats and suites), so get your drinks before then! You are allowed a maximum of two drinks per person at any one time.

  • Banners/Signs banners and signs are permitted as long as they do not obstruct the view of other fans or contain offensive language or images (or advertising material).

  • Camper Lot due to construction of the new stadium, the Camper Lot is unfortunately closed until the 2026 season, meaning that RVs and campers cannot currently park at the venue (until 2026).

  • Helmets and Footballs - these cannot be brought inside the stadium. You must return these items to your vehicle before entering.

Visit the stadium’s A-Z guide page for a full list of rules at Highmark Stadium.

Hotels Near Highmark Stadium

A number of nice hotels can be found within walking distance (or a short cab ride) of Highmark Stadium, including the Hilton Niagara Falls/Fallsview Hotel & Suites, Embassy Suites by Hilton Niagara Falls, and Sheraton Fallsview Hotel. As you can tell from the name of the hotels, world famous Niagara Falls is close by, so you can check that out too before you go to a Bills game!

Highmark Stadium Seating Chart

Highmark Stadium is a large venue with many different seating options available to visitors. Premium seating such as suites and club seats offer fans a more comfortable and exclusive experience, while general seating, with mid-range and cheaper seats made to suit every preference and budget, lets you get right into the midst of the fun with the crowd as they cheer the Bills on to victory. Whether you prefer being near the endzone to watch the touchdowns (and touchdown celebrations) or fancy a spot on the 50-yard line, Highmark Stadium has a great seat for you. Check TicketX for all available tickets to games or events at Highmark Stadium and scan our seating chart to evaluate different seating options.
