Vilma Palma e Vampiros is an Argentine rock and new wave band formed in Rosario, Santa Fe in 1990, led by vocalist Mario "Pájaro" Gómez. The band's distinctive name originated from a piece of graffiti found on the shutters of a closed furniture store in Rosario reading "Vilma Palma e Hijos Vampiros de los Obreros," which gradually faded until only "Vilma Palma e Vampiros" remained. The band rose to prominence in 1991 and 1992 with their self-titled debut album, which included the hit singles "Bye Bye" and "La Pachanga" and sold over one million copies. Blending pop rock, new wave, and Latin influences with catchy Spanish-language melodies, they became one of the most beloved bands of the 1990s Latin rock scene, releasing numerous successful albums including 3980 (1993) and Fondo Profundo (1994).
