About Maribou State
Maribou State is a British electronic music duo comprising Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, both originally from Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. Though they grew up in the same small town, the pair only discovered their shared passion for music at university in Leeds, where they began making electronic music together. They launched their career in 2011 and released their debut album Portraits in 2015 on Ninja Tune's Counter Records imprint, recorded in a shed at the bottom of Liam's parents' garden. Their 2018 follow-up Kingdoms in Colour, which featured a standout collaboration with Khruangbin on "Feel Good," reached number 25 on the UK album charts. Known for blending UK club music, vintage soul, and organic instrumentation, they have performed at celebrated venues from Glastonbury to the Sydney Opera House.
