About GA-20

GA-20 is an American blues trio from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 2018 by guitarist Matthew Stubbs, a 16-year veteran of blues legend Charlie Musselwhite's touring band. The current lineup consists of Stubbs, vocalist and guitarist Cody Nilsen, and drummer Josh Kiggans. Named after the Gibson GA-20 amplifier manufactured from 1950 to 1961, the band specializes in raw, stripped-down 1950s and 1960s-style Chicago blues played without a bass player, drawing inspiration from Hound Dog Taylor, Howlin' Wolf, and Otis Rush. Signed to Karma Chief/Colemine Records, multiple albums have debuted at number one on the Billboard Blues chart, including Try It...You Might Like It! GA-20 Does Hound Dog Taylor (2021) and Crackdown (2022). They have won the Boston Music Award for Blues Artist of the Year multiple consecutive times.
