Southern Jaguars Basketball represents Southern University, located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They compete in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Fans have gotten to see the Division I Jaguars in the NCAA tournament nine times, the second most of any SWAC school. In 2022, they were also the most recent SWAC team to get to the regional quarterfinals. When they were ranked 13 in 1993, that made them the highest-seeded SWAC team since 1984 when the tournament expanded to include 64 teams. Their team colors are blue and gold and they play home games at the F.G. Clark Activity Center. Kevin Johnson is their current head coach with Roman Banks as the athletic director for the school.
