About Club Necaxa

Club Necaxa is a Mexican professional football club founded on August 21, 1923, in Mexico City by William H. Fraser, a Scottish engineer who owned the Light and Power Company. Named after the nearby Necaxa River, the club was nicknamed Los Electricistas in its early years and later became known as Los Rayos. One of ten founding members of Mexico's first professional league in 1943, Necaxa won multiple league championships in the 1930s and experienced a resurgence in the 1990s under coach Manuel Lapuente, winning three Liga MX titles. After relocating from Mexico City to Aguascalientes in 2003, the club returned to the top flight in 2016. They currently play home matches at the Estadio Victoria, wearing their traditional red and white colors.
