Al Olender is an American singer-songwriter based in Upstate New York, known for her emotionally raw indie folk and pop sound. Drawing on themes of grief, identity, honesty, and self-discovery, her music blends acoustic guitar with lush arrangements including keys, strings, and harmonies. Her debut full-length album Easy Crier was inspired by the sudden loss of her older brother Keith and recorded at The Church in Harlemville, NY with producer James Felice of the Felice Brothers. The record earned praise for its tender yet anthemic quality, balancing humor and heartbreak with disarming sincerity. Her second album The Worrier further explores anxiety, change, and the struggle to hold on to meaningful connections, and was recorded live to tape with producer Nick Kinsey. Olender has toured extensively, opening for artists such as Bonny Light Horseman, John Moreland, Shovels & Rope, Deer Tick, and Lucius. She has become a notable figure in the Hudson Valley music scene and continues to build a following drawn to her candid songwriting and warm, intimate live performances.
