High Water Festival, founded by the acclaimed group Shovels & Rope, quickly rose to prominence as a top music event in the Lowcountry. Held at Riverfront Park in North Charleston, the festival has become a hotspot, drawing crowds with its mix of indie, folk, country, and rock music.
Its unique appeal lies in blending renowned and emerging artists' performances with Southern culinary delights. Notable past acts include the hottest musical talents, selling out tickets in record time. With two main stages, Edisto and Stono, High Water offers a rich, immersive experience against Charleston’s historic backdrop and vibrant culture.
The festival is just the beginning. In Charleston, you can explore historic streets, get some relaxation at Folly Beach, or dive into antiquity with designated plantation tours. These experiences add depth to your festival journey, blending tunes with cultural treasures.
Charleston’s Shovels & Rope announced on May 24, 2024, that they are ending their partnership with the High Water Festival, which they founded 7 years ago. The festival has been their beloved brainchild to the Charleston community, featuring and performing a mix of folk, indie, and alternative music year after year.
Despite its popularity, recent issues at the 2023 festival, including traffic congestion, locker break-ins, and liquor permit and shortage problems, contributed to their decision. Shovels & Rope expressed gratitude for the support over the years and assured fans that the festival will continue, albeit without their involvement.
Their departure marks the end of an era, but the festival remains a cherished event for music lovers in Charleston.
On April 17, the organizers of what is South Carolina's alt-country and Americana extravaganza, announced the lineup for 2024.This time, the festival will continue to feature your favorite artists.
