Oklou (born Marylou Mayniel, April 23, 1993) is a French singer, songwriter, and producer from Poitiers. Classically trained in piano and cello, she later taught herself electronic production and began self-releasing music online in 2013. She moved to Paris in 2015, where she became part of the underground electronic scene and released her first Oklou EP, before eventually relocating to London. Her 2020 debut mixtape Galore established her internationally, earning praise for its dreamy, introspective blend of ambient pop, left-field R&B, and experimental electronics. She has collaborated with artists including Mura Masa, Flume, Bladee, and FKA twigs, and has remixed tracks by Dua Lipa, Caroline Polachek, and Angèle. Her debut album Choke Enough (2025, Because Music) was critically acclaimed, with Pitchfork describing it as a fusion of Y2K aesthetics, Baroque polyphony, and ambient electronic pop. A deluxe edition, Choke Enough: Expansion Pack, was released in October 2025. She has toured with Caroline Polachek and Oneohtrix Point Never, and continues to be regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary alternative electronic music.
