LCD Soundsystem is an electronic band, formed in 2002, from Brooklyn, New York. The co-founder of DFA Records, James Murphy, put the band together. They have been signed to his label and Columbia Records, which signed them in 2016. The group recorded and released singles starting in 2002, creating a signature sound. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2005 and got critical acclaim as well as a Grammy nominee. They continued releasing albums to critical acclaim and their third moved into the top-ten. In 2011, they put on a farewell concert. In 2017, LCD Soundsystem reunited and released new music, which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.
