About Third Day

Third Day were an American Christian rock band formed in 1991 by vocalist and guitarist Mac Powell and guitarist Mark Lee — childhood friends who had previously played together in a high school garage band called Nuclear Hoedown in Powder Springs, Georgia — alongside original keyboardist Billy Wilkins. At a 1992 church performance they met drummer David Carr and bassist Tai Anderson, who joined the band, and guitarist Brad Avery rounded out the classic lineup in 1995. Their band name references the biblical account of Jesus' resurrection on the third day following his crucifixion. Signed to Reunion Records in 1995, their self-titled major label debut spawned the mainstream rock hit "Nothing at All" and a Billboard Music Video Award for "Consuming Fire." Known for their blend of Southern rock, blues, and contemporary Christian music, Third Day sold over 10 million albums, achieved 31 number one Christian radio singles, and released 14 studio albums over a nearly thirty-year career. Their accolades include four Grammy Awards, 24 Dove Awards, an American Music Award, and induction into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2009. Billboard Magazine called them "one of the best rock bands, period." The band dissolved following a farewell tour in 2018 and reunited in 2025 for a 30th anniversary arena tour in 2026.
