Glen David Andrews is an American trombonist, vocalist, and bandleader born in 1979 in the Tremé neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, one of the oldest African American communities in the United States. Coming from one of New Orleans' most celebrated musical families, Andrews grew up immersed in the brass band, gospel, and jazz traditions of the Tremé. His family includes his brother Derrick Tabb, the snare drummer for the Rebirth Brass Band, and his younger cousin Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews. A protégé of legendary New Orleans tuba player Anthony "Tuba Fats" Lacen, Andrews honed his craft playing with the Lil Rascals, New Birth, and Tremé Brass Bands, and has performed with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Known as the "Tremé Prince," he is celebrated for his commanding voice, fierce trombone sound, and electrifying live performances that blend jazz, brass band, gospel, funk, R&B, and zydeco. He released the Grammy-nominated gospel album Walking Through Heaven's Gate in 2008 and the critically acclaimed Redemption in 2014.
