About Wunderhorse

Wunderhorse are a British rock band formed in 2020 by frontman and songwriter Jacob Slater in Newquay, Cornwall. Slater had previously fronted the punk trio Dead Pretties before relocating to Cornwall, where he worked as a surfing instructor and labourer while writing new material. The band became a full lineup in 2021, now comprising Slater (vocals, guitar), Harry Fowler (guitar), Seb Byford (bass), and Jamie Staples (drums), all signed to Communion Records. Their debut album Cub (October 2022) peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart, and their second album Midas (September 2024), produced by Craig Silvey at Minnesota's Pachyderm Studio — where Nirvana recorded In Utero — debuted at number one. Their 2025 single "The Rope" reached number one on the UK Official Vinyl Singles Chart. Wunderhorse were awarded Best Group at the Rolling Stone UK Awards in November 2025 and have performed at Glastonbury in 2023 and 2025.
