HoneyLuv is the stage name of Taylor Character, a Cleveland-born, Los Angeles-based DJ and producer. Before pursuing music, she was an NCAA basketball player and later served as a drone operator in the U.S. Navy. Stationed near Los Angeles, she taught herself to DJ in her barracks after work, and left the military in December 2020 to pursue music full time, subsequently enrolling at the Los Angeles Recording School. Her sound blends soulful house with elements of R&B, Afrobeats, and techno, rooted in an early love of house music legends such as Frankie Knuckles, instilled by her mother. She broke through rapidly, earning a spot on BBC Radio 1's Dance Future Stars list in 2023, winning DJ Mag's Breakthrough Producer award, and being named a New York Times "Up Next" artist. Her track "Thr33 6ix 5ive" was named BBC Radio 1's Hottest Record in the World. She has performed at major festivals including Coachella and EDC, and has collaborated with artists such as Seth Troxler and Idris Elba. In 2024, she launched her own label, 4 Tha Luv, aimed at bringing more soul and diversity to the house music scene.
