Milwaukee Ballet is a professional ballet company founded in 1970 by Roberta Boorse, who dreamed of bringing world-class ballet to Wisconsin's largest city. Based in Milwaukee, the company is led by Artistic Director Michael Pink, its longest-serving artistic director, who joined in 2002 and is celebrated for theatrical full-length productions described as "Classical Ballet for the 21st Century." The company performs at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and is one of the few ballet companies in the nation to maintain its own orchestra. Milwaukee Ballet School and Academy, the only professionally accredited dance school in the Midwest, trains students from across the country, while the company's community engagement programs reach nearly 40,000 people in Southeastern Wisconsin each year.
