About Texas Ballet Theater

Texas Ballet Theater is a professional ballet company based in North Texas, serving as the premier resident ballet company for both Fort Worth and Dallas. Founded in 1961 by Margo Dean as the Fort Worth Ballet Association, the company became fully professional in 1985 and was renamed Texas Ballet Theater in 2003 following a merger with Fort Worth Dallas Ballet. The company is the only arts organization to serve as resident company for both the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth and the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas. Under the longtime artistic direction of Ben Stevenson, O.B.E., who served from 2003 until being named Artistic Director Laureate in 2022, the company grew from a regional troupe to an internationally acclaimed ensemble. Tim O'Keefe now serves as artistic director, presenting a diverse repertoire ranging from classical works to contemporary ballet. The company maintains ballet schools in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Richardson.
