The tour is a year-long circuit of golf tournaments. Each week, a different golf competition takes place. The Portland Classic is a minor event on the tour. This year’s total prize money is $1,750,000, with profits made being donated to charity.

Portland Classic Rain Policy

In 2021, the Portland Classic was disrupted due to adverse weather conditions. The tour reduced the championship to 54 holes. This was due to the course conditions at the Oregon Golf Club. The weather forecast had also predicted rain throughout Saturday, extending into Sunday. Rain and golf are like oil and water; they do not mix. Golf is generally an outdoor sport. When rain falls, the course gets wet, making it difficult for golfers to play at their very best.

When there is a rain forecast during the Portland Classic, organizers monitor the condition of the golf course to determine if participants can play. For the 2024 championship, players are expected to complete 72 holes. If the course conditions are bad for playing, the holes for golfers are reduced or rearranged. There is also the option of extending or postponing the games to keep everyone safe.
