Mercedes-Benz Stadium Events

The futuristic Mercedes-Benz Stadium first opened its doors in 2017 as the new home of the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL and Atlanta United FC of MLS. The stadium is fitted with a unique retractable roof comprised of eight transparent panels that separate when the roof is opened into a pattern that calls to mind the extended wings of a falcon. Much of the venue has been built using transparent materials such as glass and clear polymers to provide fans with expansive views across the city from inside the stadium. It has actually been Atlanta United FC, not the Falcons, who have brought the greatest glory to the stadium and its fans of late, winning their first-ever MLS Cup in 2018 and drawing some of the largest crowds in MLS history to their home games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Falcons got oh-so-close to a championship win of their own in 2016 when they reached Super Bowl LI only to lose 34-28 to the New England Patriots in the biggest come-from-behind victory in Super Bowl history. Along with all regular season and playoff Falcons and Atlanta United FC home games, Mercedes-Benz Stadium hosts top high school and NCAA college football games, concerts, and international soccer matches. The venue is also one of the American stadiums scheduled to host matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Hungry? Mercedes-Benz Stadium has plenty of tempting snacks, with everything from cheesesteaks to chicken and waffles to barbecued pulled pork sandwiches (as well as great beer at just $5!). Food is also much more affordably priced than many other professional sports venues. Kiosks and shops throughout the stadium hawk team and event merchandise, including many fashionable items featuring the Falcons’ iconic logo.
