Wisp is the stage name of Natalie R. Lu, an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist born in 2004 and raised in the Sunset District of San Francisco, California. Of Thai and Taiwanese descent, Lu began making music in her bedroom while a computer science student at San Francisco State University, uploading her debut single "Your Face" to TikTok and SoundCloud in April 2023. The track went viral overnight and charted on Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs, earning Lu a deal with Interscope Records. Known for layered guitar textures, reverb-drenched production, and Lu's ethereal vocals, Wisp is widely associated with the contemporary shoegaze and nu gaze revival.
