About Arm's Length

Arm's Length are a Canadian emo band from Quinte West, Ontario, formed in 2018 by singer-guitarist Allen Steinberg and brothers Jeremy Whyte (guitar) and Jeff Whyte (drums) — best friends who had known each other for years before finally beginning to write music together. Bassist Benjamin Greenblatt, originally from New Jersey, joined in 2022. Their music channels the loneliness, gloom, and deep-rooted family traumas of small-town rural Ontario life — funerals, farm fields, and strip malls — fusing emo-pop, post-hardcore, and Midwest emo influences into what Wax Bodega describes as "titanic emo punk compositions" from a new generation of emo. The band recorded two self-released EPs — What's Mine Is Yours (2019) and Everything Nice (2021, produced by Anton DeLost, favorably reviewed by Pitchfork) — gaining industry attention after a TikTok clip of their song "Watercolour" went viral in 2021, at a point when they had played only six shows. Signing with Wax Bodega, they released their debut album Never Before Seen, Never Again Found on October 28, 2022 — also produced by Anton DeLost and recorded at Toronto's Noble Street Studios — which Rate Your Music ranked among the best albums of 2022. In February 2025, the band signed with Pure Noise Records (home to Knocked Loose and Drug Church) and released their second album There's a Whole World Out There on May 16, 2025, followed by extensive U.S. and European touring.
