Jadakiss (born Jason Terrance Phillips on May 27, 1975) is an American rapper from Yonkers, New York, widely regarded as one of hip hop's most skilled lyricists. He began freestyling on the streets at age 12 and co-founded the hip hop trio The Lox alongside Styles P and Sheek Louch in 1994. The group signed with Puff Daddy's Bad Boy Records and released their debut album Money, Power & Respect (1998), before moving to Ruff Ryders Entertainment for We Are the Streets (2000), both of which reached the top five of the Billboard 200. Jadakiss launched his solo career in 2001 and scored his biggest hit with "Why?" (2004) featuring Anthony Hamilton, which peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. He has released five solo studio albums, most recently Ignatius in 2020.
