Before this California music fiesta could launch in 2008, there were over three years of planning and preparation behind it. It came as no surprise that when it launched in 2008, it was a massive success, pulling up to 130,000 attendees and bringing Radiohead on stage.

Since 2018, musicians and groups like Stevie Wonder, Metallica, Elton John, Kendrick Lamar, Twenty One Pilots, Post Malone, Jack Harlow, and many others have graced these stages. The concert is back again in 2024, and judging from the information released, we can tell that it’s going to be terrific.

August 9, Friday

Headliners: The Killers

On the opening date, Daniel Caesar, Jungle, Gryffin, Young the Giant, Tyla, and Renee Rapp will be performing along with about thirty other artists at the festival.

August 10, Saturday

Headliners: Sabrina Carpenter

The Postal Service, Grace Jones, Chris Lake, Schoolboy Q, and Fletcher Channel Tres are some of the other artists who will perform on the different Outside Lands stages on Saturday.

August 11, Sunday

Headliners: Post Malone, Sturgill Simpson

On the closing day, Kaytranada, Teddy Swims, Victoria Monet, Chappel Roan, Killer Mike, and about thirty other artists will be performing to close the weekend festival.

Outside Lands 2023 Review

Festival Dates: August 11-13

Outside Lands 2023 was held at Golden Gate Park, attracting up to 75,000 attendees on each of the festival dates. The weekend featured artists like Lana Del Rey, Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, Foo Fighters, Cigarettes After Sex, Odesza, and many other talented musicians singing their hearts out on stage. This was the 15th anniversary of the festival, so everything had to go well, and thankfully, it all did.

Generally, fans’ reviews of the music at the festival are very good. The lineup was impressive, and all the artists brought their A-game to the festival, leaving the audience totally wowed. However, in an online write-up, one attendee shared how the high turnout for the festival made the place very rowdy and, at peak hours, simply uncomfortable. For instance, there were very long lines to get food and to use the bathroom stations.

For the 2023 edition of the festival, users could follow live streams of all the action with an Amazon Prime subscription or by streaming it on the Amazon Music channel on Twitch. Outside Lands has not announced the streaming options that will be available for the 2024 festival. When you’re dressing up for Outside Lands, consider that you will be moving around and sweating with a large crowd of people around, so dress lightweight. However, have something to keep you warm because San Francisco nights can get chilly very fast.

Jean trousers are a good pick for all genders. For footwear, think about shoes that will be comfortable while you are moving up and about across Golden Gate Park. Some attendees just wear flip-flops, but we recommend something more comfortable. For your top, try a tank top or a T-shirt to keep you cool in the warm afternoons. If you have room in a bag and you’d be out for the night, carry a jacket, just in case San Francisco’s chilly waves set in unexpectedly.
