It serves as the home venue for UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball, the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League, the Carolina Cobras of the National Arena League, and hosts both Men's and Women's ACC basketball tournaments. The Coliseum has been a key location for notable sporting events like the Men's ACC Tournament, the Women's ACC Tournament, the NCAA Men's "Final Four" in 1974, and the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, among others. Additionally, it has a rich history of hosting professional hockey teams and the "Central Carolina Fair" annually since 1999. Originally named the "Greensboro Memorial Coliseum," the main arena within the complex was one of the largest of its time on the East Coast with a seating capacity of 7,100 when it first opened. Over the years, it has hosted a diverse array of events, from sporting competitions to major concerts by artists such as The Monkees, Elvis Presley, and Phish—the latter setting the attendance record with 23,642 attendees in 2003. The Coliseum has also been a venue for significant music festivals like WJMH's SuperJam and auditions for popular television shows such as American Idol and The X Factor. This venue's long history and diverse programming highlight its significance as a cultural and sports hub in the region.
