Mercedes-Benz Arena

Capacity: 17,000

Opened: 2008

Formerly known as o2 World Berlin, the Mercedes-Benz Arena has been a hotspot for entertainment in Berlin since 2008 when it was opened. When the arena was initially launched, the first band to perform on its stage was Metallica, the popular heavy metal band.

The Mercedes-Benz Arena is one of the leading multipurpose arenas in the world. The venue hosts different sports tournaments and has different suites for events and entertainment shows of all sizes. It is the home stadium for Eisbären Berlin, an ice hockey club, and Alba, one of Berlin's professional basketball teams. Games from these leagues and even handball games are played here.

While the Mercedez Arena has hosted different sports competitions, it gets most of its international acclaim from the big concerts held there. As a multipurpose hall, it can also be transformed into a sports stadium to host a basketball or hockey game within a few hours. If you are wondering where the ice comes from for a new ice hockey match, the secret is that it is stored in the floor. So Taylor Swift can perform at the arena today, and Eisbären Berlin will still play hockey on ice in the same venue tomorrow.

Mercedes-Benz Arena History

The Arena was opened in 2008, and at the time, it was named the o2 World Berlin. It wasn’t until 2015, when the German Car company signed a sponsorship contract with the arena management, that the name was changed. Interestingly, the arena management has signed a new deal to change the name to Uber Arena in March 2024.

All the name changes the venue has undergone do not take away the beautiful experiences that have been had on those grounds. The arena has hosted big UFC fight nights, important basketball and hockey games, and even WWE House shows. When any organizer is considering doing a show in Germany, this is one of the venues they show high interest in.

Hugh Jackman, BTS, Nicki Minaj, Christina Aguilera, Dua Lipa, Blackpink, Olivia Rodrigo, and many other top talents performed some dates of their tours in this arena. In 2013, Beyonce performed two sold-out shows here, and two years later, Madonna did the same for her MDNA Tour.

As one of the best multipurpose arenas in Europe, the Mercedes-Benz arena naturally attracts big shows that bring large crowds. In sports, the arena has hosted the Euroleague Final Four, a professional basketball competition. Games from the German hockey league are also played in the stadium occasionally.

Beyond sports, the arena is a popular destination for entertainers touring Europe. This is why most top American performers have performed here.

For 2024, Hans Zimmer, Olivia Rodrigo, Nicki Minaj, Trevor Noah, and many other excellent entertainers already have events booked for this venue. WWE events are also scheduled in this venue later in 2024. The final games of the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup will also be played here.

How to Get Cheap Mercedes-Benz Arena Tickets

If you are in Berlin, you know how many exciting shows and games are held in the Mercedes Arena yearly. In 2024, more artists and comedians will be back to serve premium entertainment, and you don’t have to miss a moment of it.

If you can’t beat that early ticket rush and secondary tickets are too expensive, you need a platform like TicketX. When tickets are in high demand, they sell out fast, and the secondary tickets put up for sale on many platforms are frequently overpriced. The cost of tickets skyrockets because of high demand and the charges these middleman websites add to their fees.

TicketX also acts as a middleman for secondary tickets, where ticket owners get to sell to buyers. However, TicketX is able to keep its prices low by not charging ticket sellers at all and only collecting a 3% fee from buyers. You can find the next Mercedes Arena event you are interested in and compare the cost of tickets here with other secondary ticket resale websites.
