RIVERSTAGE

Capacity: 9500

Opened: 1989

Riverstage is located in the heart of City Botanic Gardens in Brisbane, Australia. It is the ideal outdoor venue for entertainment shows and events. In 1988, Australia hosted the World Expo 88 in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland. With the theme, “Leisure in the Age of Technology”, the event's main goal was to advertise the state of Queensland as a tourist and travel destination. There were several activities planned for the Expo, including magic shows, a marching band parade, acrobatics and miming events, fireworks and laser shows.

These entertainment events were held at a temporary Riverstage built for the World Expo 88. The closing ceremony held at this venue was a concert performed by Australia’s greatest stars. A year after the Expo, a new and permanent Riverstage was built to host live entertainment events in Brisbane.

Today, Riverstage is primarily the perfect place to hold music concerts. When the venue is at full capacity, a live screening area opposite it is used to stream the concert for additional attendees. Over the years, the venue has been the prime spot for local, global and international music shows and events. The venue is currently under the control and management of the Brisbane City Council.
