Soldier Field Events

Soldier Field is the oldest NFL stadium still in use today, having been initially opened in 1924. Though not exactly a historic trip down memory lane due to some less than aesthetically pleasing renovations over the years, going to see a Chicago Bears (NFL) at Soldier Field does nonetheless have a certain mystique about it (though not much of a “winning mystique”). In recent decades, the Chicago Fire FC (MLS) have also gained a big following at the venue. Whatever happens, it will likely be windy (it’s the Windy City!), a factor that always makes things interesting on the field (and off it…bring a jacket!). Get onto TicketX today and buy your tickets to experience the great (and windy) atmosphere of Soldier Field.

Does Soldier Field host concerts and other events?

As well as hosting regular season and playoff Chicago Bears (NFL) football games and Chicago Fire FC (MLS) soccer games, Soldier Field continues to be the site of NCAA college football games, concerts, and international soccer matches. It was one of the venues for the 1994 FIFA World Cup (but will not feature in the upcoming 2026 edition). Ed Sheeran’s 2023 concert set a record at Soldier Field, selling over 73,000 tickets. The following concerts and special events are scheduled to be held at Soldier Field in 2024:

Soldier Field History

Soldier Field has been home to the NFL’s Chicago Bears since 1971, but the stadium’s history goes far into the past, back to a time of leather helmets, limited padding, and many missing teeth. Dating all the way back to 1924, Soldier Field, which will turn 100 next year, is the oldest NFL stadium still in use today, housing the Chicago Fire FC of MLS as well as the Bears. The stadium’s interior underwent massive renovations, however, in 2002, which lost the venue its status as a National Historic Landmark, but the exterior still retains something of its timeless grandeur. Gorgeous, though, it is not. The Bears have not exactly brought the old stadium much glory over the years, though they did manage to win a Super Bowl back in 1984 (Super Bowl XX). Chicago Fire FC also have a single title to their name, an MLS Cup in 1998, their very first season in the league.

Soldier Field Food and Merchandise

Hungry visitors to Soldier Field will find plenty of classic stadium treats, including hotdogs, burgers, Chicago-style mini-pizzas, and beer. Team (Bears and Chicago Fire FC) and event merchandise can be bought at the many kiosks and shops throughout the stadium.

Getting to Soldier Field (Transportation and Parking)

Visitors can access Soldier Field via public transportation or driving their own vehicle

Getting to Soldier Field via public transportation

The only real option available if you want to take public transportation to Soldier Field is the bus. While the bus will get you there, you may have to transfer several times, depending on your location, and wait times in cold weather can be less than enjoyable. A taxi or rideshare to the stadium might be a better option.

Getting to Soldier Field by car

Most visitors travel to Soldier Field in their own vehicles. Traffic en route can be a problem, however, so make sure to leave plenty of time to get to the venue in advance of your event. Check Soldier Field’s official website for helpful maps and driving directions, including information on road closures.

Does Soldier Field have on-site parking?

Yes, there is a great deal of on-site parking at Soldier Field in the large parking garages next to the venue, but the main ones are reserved for season ticket holders during NFL games. Off-site parking is available in some of the large outlying parking lots and there are shuttles to take fans to the stadium (only available for NFL games). Soldier Field’s official website has very detailed parking instructions and maps, as well as links to sites where you can book prepaid parking spots.

How much does Soldier Field parking cost?

Parking at the main Soldier Field parking lots typically runs between $55-75 depending on the game or event you are attending. Off-site parking can be much cheaper, with prices as low as $13.50, but be sure to check how far your spot is located from the venue. Check Soldier Field’s official website to learn more about cheaper parking rates and to reserve your prepaid spot in advance.
