Built way back in 1967 by Jack Kent Cooke, owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and, as a Canadian, an avid hockey fan who had long dreamed of bringing the NHL to Los Angeles, the Kia Forum (known as the LA Forum, the Great Western Forum, or simply the Forum throughout the years) was long home to the Lakers along the NHL team that Cooke did bring to LA: the Los Angeles Kings. The Forum was one of the best known sports venues in America during the height of its fame due to the dominance of the Lakers, the shock acquisition of hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky by the Kings, and the celebrities who frequented games. In 1999, however, the curtain came down for NHL and NBA at the Forum, with the Kings and Lakers relocating to the new Crypto.com Arena. Since then, the Kia Forum has mainly provided a stage for large scale concerts and performances along with religious gatherings, conventions, minor league sports, and other sporting events. The building itself has also been included in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
Along with its long history of hosting sporting events over the years, the Kia Forum is also well known for concerts and performances featuring a wide range of talented musicians and bands from many different musical genres. Here are just a few of the exciting performances and concerts coming to the Kia Forum in 2024 (including some top comedy shows!):
