Tokyo Dome

Ever since it opened in 1988 in the heart of Bunkyo Ward in Tokyo, Tokyo Dome has been one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and home to one of the nation’s most iconic sports teams: the Yomiuri Giants of the NPB (Nippon Professional Baseball) league. Major League Baseball (MLB) teams have also played games at the venue while visiting Japan. Tokyo Dome has also hosted the World Baseball Classic on several occasions as well as other sporting events involving basketball, American football, soccer, pro wrestling, MMA, monster truck races, and kickboxing bouts. Tokyo Dome is also one of the biggest concert venues for major international and Japanese music and performance acts in Tokyo (and Japan). Surrounding the stadium is Tokyo Dome City, an amusement park and shopping center (you can sing karaoke on the Ferris Wheel…), as well as the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame.

Tokyo Dome - Past Concerts, Tours, and Events

Big concerts and performances have attracted large crowds to the Tokyo Dome ever since the venue opened, with top performers coming from all over Japan and around the world to entertain the music-loving public of Tokyo. Major Japanese bands such as KinKi Kids, Arashi, and Kanjani Eight have performed there dozens of times. Mick Jagger was the first non-Japanese artist to perform at Tokyo Dome, which he did in 1988, followed by many others including Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Madonna, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift (who famously had to catch a quick flight back to the Super Bowl in January 2024 after performing at the Dome). When it comes to music and other major events, the Tokyo Dome truly has something for everyone!
